Requests
for help and information submitted to the PCRG
I have some photos of a rather nice pot, comes from
an east facing crouched burial at Wicken, south of Ely.
The C14 date on the body, which I have no problem believing,
came in at 210 - 30BC at 88% or 190 - 50 at 68%. Now,
I haven't come across many whole MIA pots before, nor
many in burial contexts. Was wondering whether either
of you had any good parallels and whether you could
pass this around the PCRG to see if anyone else has.

The
PCRG has received the following request from Jos Kleijne:
I am a Research
Master student from Leiden University. Currently, I
am working on my thesis on Middle Bronze Age (1800-1100
cal BC) ceramics from the Low Countries, Southern Britain
and Northern France. I am interested in (re-)integrating
migration and cultural transmission in the discussion.
My methods will concern manufacturing techniques, decoration
styles, pottery forms and the archaeological contexts
in which we find them. I already have a substantial
amount of data on British finds, but (as I come from
the Netherlands) many information is not available to
me.
If any of
our members are able to help Jos source the information
that he requires, please could you contact him directly

Help wanted
Andrea Wood is undertaking an MA in
archaeological illustration at Swindon College. She
would like to be put in touch with anyone who could
advise on the subject of the manufacture and consumption
of ale in the Neolithic period in Britain. Her dissertation
is concerned with residues of ale and other brewed/fermented
drinks and pollens etc.
If anyone can help, please email her
at andrea1775@hotmail.co.uk
